UT3 + C&C Renegade = Tiberium Madness

Released a few days ago by Totem Arts for Unreal Tournament 3 is a mod based on the Westwood made magically enhanced C&C Renegade which was the only FPS in the C&C universe which almost got a sequel it even had some concept art done for it but unfortunately received a boot in the backside, I am one of many crazed fans of the C&C universe and have been following this mod for months, I bought UT3 just to play this mod luckily it was on a £6 weekend when I went to buy it and its been a £6 well spent.

Firstly, the mod looks awesome on the UT3 engine and is a massive improvement over the original game released in 2002, but the mod still captures the feel that Renegade gave you when you played it, RenX has great models very accurately recreated in the new engine, even with that extra sheen that UT3 adds it still looks “Identical” to the original multiplayer game and the maps are recreated in a field of great physics, effects and dramatic effects, the first time I loaded up a game I instantly had rush of nostalgia from playing Renegade back when I was a youngster.

RenX is like the newer more knowledgeable brother of Renegade, the point of the game is still the same destroy the enemy base one building at a time with each building destroyed you take away a key part of the other teams arsenal and using the resources harvested or earned in battle you can get special units to infiltrate the opposing teams base or buy a large vehicle to charge into battle the emphasis is on team work one unit cannot win the game on its own you need your team to back you up whether its supporting you in the field or defending your base its almost impossible to win a match without it.
Currently the mod is in its first beta release which has its bugs and missing content which they promise to provide in releases in the near future but for getting to play Renegade again its worth looking over the few small problems it currently has.
