What is a BYOC LAN?

BYOC stands for “Bring your own computer”. On the day of the event, attendees bring their own computer (or laptop) along and connect it to our network. From there it’s a weekend of gaming and socialising, with attendees staying on site in one of our designated sleeping areas.

What time does the event start / finish?

Our events normally start at 14:00 on the Friday of the event, however, any changes in opening time will be advised of with as much notice as possible. For up to date times of our latest event check out the schedule on the relevant event page.

We then switch off the network at 18:00 on the Sunday of the event ready to start our pack down and cleanup.

The venue is then empty / closed by 20:00 on Sunday.

In the case of a 4-day event then the times will be the same for closing on the Monday

Can I arrive early?

We do advise that participants aim to arrive for our event starting time of 14:00, however, if you do wish to arrive early please Contact Us prior to the event to let us know.

If arriving early, network, internet and power may not be available. We may also ask for your assistance in setting up or ask you to wait in a separate area until set up is complete.

Does your venue provide disabled access?

Yes – disabled access via a ramp at the building main entrance. The Venue is also equipped with disabled toilets.

What facilities are at the venue?

Our event venue provides the following facilities for attendee use:

  • Kitchen area with large industrial fridge (no freezer), industrial oven with hobs, microwave and kettle
  • Several changing rooms and shower areas
  • Disabled access ramp and disabled toilet
  • Bar area (opening times to be confirmed prior to an event)

Can I bring alcohol?

Alcohol is allowed at our events, however, we do kindly ask our attendees not to bring too much, or go too overboard with the drinking. As per our Rules page, we reserve the right to remove anyone from the event who we feel is too intoxicated or poses a hazard to others.

Can I bring my own food?

You are welcome to bring along anything you wish to eat for the weekend.

Please note that the venue does not have a freezer and limited fridge space. The kitchen also includes an industrial oven with hobs, as well as microwave and kettle. If you wish to cook anything on the oven hob it is advisable to bring your own pan

Can I reserve a seat?

We are always happy to take seating requests if you have friend or group of people that you wish to sit with. Once you have brought your weekend ticket simply get in touch with us through one of our social networks, or via the Contact Us page. If no seating request is made before an event then it will either be allocated automatically via a seating plan or on a first come first serve basis at the event.

Can I bring two monitors?

We kindly ask participants to bring only one monitor due to available desk space, and power requirements.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

All of our weekend event attendees are welcome to stay/sleep at the venue for the duration of the event. Although we will provide designated sleeping areas you are also free to sleep by your desk provided you are not blocking any access routes.

Sleeping at our events is included free of charge with each weekend ticket

I can no longer attend the event so can I get a refund?

We are more than happy to provide you with a refund should you no longer be able to attend one of our events. Refunds will be given NO LATER than 2 weeks prior to the event without exception. Refunds may be liable to a fee of up to £5 which will be confirmed at the time of the refund. This is to cover any PayPal / administration costs involved.

I can no longer attend the event so can I give away / resell my ticket?

Reselling/giving away a ticket to a friend, or acquaintance is fine. Please, however, notify us via the Contact Us page if this occurs, as we will need to update the order and name of the attendee.

Can I be part of the staff / events team?

Whether it’s setting up, cleaning up, problem-solving, meeting & greeting or just getting our attendees settled in – We are always on the look out for extra help with our events! If you wish to help in any way please Contact Us and we will be happy to discuss.

How would I sponsor your event?

We are always on the look out for new sponsors that we can work with to provide our attendees with the best possible experience.
